What’s HOT for Your Organized Home
By Carrie McConkey | carriemcconkey.com
Chris McKenry has been keeping busy during Covid. The owner of Closets by McKenry and Designer Garages has been expanding his showroom and growing his team, focusing on bringing new, exciting storage and organization options to the area.
“The pandemic has made our homes our work, rest, play, and vacation spot during the last year,” said McKenry. “When major factors in our life spin out of control, getting organized helps us gain control of our environment.”
More Room to Dream
When the suite next door became available just one year after McKenry opened his showroom on Center Park Drive in West Knoxville, he envisioned a more relaxing creative experience for his clients.
“Our expansion gives the opportunity for ‘visual’ clients to actually see the many options that are available without being overwhelmed,” he said.
McKenry’s 2,000-square-foot Idea Center features 13 displays filled with storage options for the entire house and the Designer Garage showroom that includes flooring. McKenry’s consultation area has also been moved, offering a quiet, private design center where your ideas will come to life in 3-D renderings using a state-of-the-art design software.
It’s All in the Details
McKenry knows it’s the little things that count when it comes to organization, and he’s carefully curated dozens of new products and components that are as tasteful as they are functional. For a laundry room or bedroom, a handy tri-fold mirror and ironing board both tuck away when not in use. In the closet, a rack that slides out for easy access can hold pants or scarves, and a motorized clothing rod moves seasonal garments down from high places. For a guest room or home office, a convenient Murphy bed instantly frees up space for playtime or exercise. With its inviting interior lighting for reading or working in bed, you might not want to fold it away!
Storage by Design
No one knows better than McKenry that storage and organization can be the focal point of a room’s décor. With a new line of custom cabinet doors, items can be stored or displayed behind contemporary aluminum doors offering limitless design combinations, including back-painted glass in colors and patterns, satin glass, and even magnetic dry-erase boards. And no more shades of gray for the garage; McKenry offers two kinds of colorful floors: Durable epoxy and innovative snap-together Swisstrax tiles, along with a rainbow of custom powder-coated cabinets.
Your Expert Team
Lead Installer Andrew Grissom, Installer Elijah Pinchak, Designer Cesar Rivera, and Showroom Manager Meghan Wilson join McKenry in inviting you to visit the showroom to see where your dreams can take you. “Being a custom storage firm allows us the ability to be creative,” said McKenry. “If you don’t see something you’re interested in, just ask.”
